Professional Focus and Services:
I am committed to assisting clients in obtaining the highest possible return on their investments while honoring their social values and personal goals. I ensure that my client’s values and goals drive the financial planning process by building long-term relationships, providing timely and relevant information, and emphasizing straightforward and honest evaluation of clients’ financial needs and goals. I have specialized in the area of socially responsible investment (SRI) for over 17 years. Services and Fee Structures. I offer services to clients with a broad range of needs under three basic structures:
- Portfolio management services are provided on an annual fee basis. Minimum account balance: $300,000.
- Hourly fee services are ideal for clients who are just starting out or have modest portfolios. No minimum account size required.
- Comprehensive financial planning services-retirement, college funding, insurance, estate planning, charitable gifting, etc.-are available to clients with more complex needs; “per project” fees are based upon the complexity of the planning.
All fees are fully disclosed and discussed up front. Insurance products may be offered on a fee or commission basis.
Professional Affiliations:
I am a professional member of the Financial Planning Association®, US SIF (The member organization for professionals working in the field of sustainable and responsible investing) where I served on the board and am listed in Green America’s National Green Pages™. I was honored by my SRI colleagues to receive the “SRI Service Award” at the SRI Conference in 2012. I am a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certificant and an ACCREDITED INVESTMENT FIDUCIARY® professional. I have served on the board of US SIF and I co-chair (with Susan White of Oneida Tribe of Wisconsin) their Indigenous Peoples Working Group. I was an organizing member of Business for Social Responsibility, Arizona Network and a co-founder and president of the Arizona Green to Gold Business Network. I was the co-coordinator of the March 2006 Green to Gold “Sustainable Cities: Healthy Local Economies” conference held at Prescott College. I am on the Agenda Committee of the annually produced SRI Conference, appear on local TV and radio investment programs and conduct educational financial planning seminars.
Education and Experience:
I have served for over 23 years in the financial services industry, predominately specializing in socially responsible portfolio management and financial planning. I received my undergraduate degree in geography from the University of New Mexico in 1976. I earned my CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certificate from the College for Financial Planning in Denver, Colorado, whose professional education program, and certification is the recognized standard among those who provide comprehensive financial planning. I have attained the ACCREDITED INVESTMENT FIDUCIARY® (AIF®) designation.
Community Involvement:
I am an active leader and member of several local groups, including the Green to Gold Business Network (Prescott) Arizona. As a representative of the Green to Gold Business Network, I work to educate other businesses and the public about the importance of supporting green/sustainable businesses. I also served on the Advisory Council of the Arizona Environmental Strategic Alliance and held the position of co-chair from 1997 to 2000.
Personal Message:
Originally from Michigan, I have lived in the southwest for over 30 years. I have traveled extensively in Europe and Latin America and speak conversational Spanish. I enjoy travel, hiking, gardening, and bird watching and working on my green remodeling project. I am particularly concerned about the wellbeing of elderly women in our society and offer volunteer assistance to several in my community. The biggest thrill of my job is seeing the light in people’s eyes when they realize that their investments can meet both their financial and their social goals when they join the growing community of socially responsible investors. The second biggest thrill is when they tell me years later that they still feel that way.
